چکیده
The Magee Scientific Model AE33 Next Generation Aethalometer, installed at Amity University Haryana (AUH), Panchgaon (rural station) has been operated round-the-clock and obtained high-resolution (1–5 Minutes) observations of Black Carbon (BC) mass concentration seven different sensing wavelengths (ranging from UV to NIR). For each observation, contribution Biomass Burning (BB, in percent) the BC also recorded. These measurements have analyzed segregate sources, responsible for this rural station. results reveal that major contributor is ‘traffic’ (fossil-fuel diesel emissions), followed by ‘biomass smoke’, wood-burning activities. diurnal variation associated BB over study area reveals a significant maximum around 0900 h minimum 1600 h. concentrations are attributed transport activities during morning ascending local atmospheric boundary-layer height. exhibit strong affinity between coincident CO2 PM2.5 concentrations. Synchronous organized two more locations, namely, Bhopal (urban Mahabaleshwar (high-altitude station). black carbon aerosol through long-range air back-trajectories explained.

Molecular Characterization of Brown Carbon in Biomass Burning Aerosol Particles.
Emissions from biomass burning are a significant source of brown carbon (BrC) in the atmosphere. In this study, we investigate the molecular composition of freshly emitted biomass burning organic aerosol (BBOA) samples collected during test burns of sawgrass, peat, ponderosa pine, and black spruce. We demonstrate that both the BrC absorption and the chemical composition of light-absorbing compo...
متن کاملSize-dependent wet removal of black carbon in Canadian biomass burning plumes
Wet deposition is the dominant mechanism for removing black carbon (BC) from the atmosphere and is key in determining its atmospheric lifetime, vertical gradient and global transport. Despite the importance of BC in the climate system, especially in terms of its ability to modulate the radiative energy budget, there are few quantitative case studies of wet removal in ambient environments. We pr...
متن کاملInfluence of biomass burning and anthropogenic emissions on ozone, carbon monoxide and black carbon at the Mt. Cimone GAW-WMO
This work investigates the variability of ozone (O3), carbon monoxide (CO) and equivalent black carbon (BC) at the Italian Climate Observatory “O. Vittori” (ICOOV), part of the Mt. Cimone global GAW-WMO station (Italy). For this purpose, ICO-OV observations carried out in the period January 2007–June 2009, have been analyzed and correlated with the outputs of the FLEXPART Lagrangian dispersion ...
متن کاملHolocene biomass burning and global dynamics of the carbon cycle.
Fire regimes have changed during the Holocene due to changes in climate, vegetation, and in human practices. Here, we hypothesise that changes in fire regime may have affected the global CO2 concentration in the atmosphere through the Holocene. Our data are based on quantitative reconstructions of biomass burning deduced from stratified charcoal records from Europe, and South-, Central- and Nor...
